Morning
Majuro Bridge & Fish Market
Start your day by walking across the Majuro Bridge, the main link between the DUD and Laura districts, for panoramic lagoon views. Then, head to the packed Majuro Fish Market in Uliga. Watch local fishermen unload their catch, see an incredible variety of tropical fish, and soak in the lively atmosphere. It's the best place to understand the island's connection to the sea.

Lunch
Tide Table Restaurant
Asian & Local Seafood Mid-range
Afternoon
Laura Beach & Snorkeling
Take a 30-minute taxi ride to the Laura district at the western tip of the atoll. Here you'll find the island's longest and most pristine white-sand beach. The water is calm, clear, and perfect for swimming and snorkeling right from the shore. Explore the energetic coral reefs just a short swim out, teeming with colorful fish. It's the classic South Pacific beach escape.
3-4 hours $10-20 (taxi ride) + $15 (snorkel rental if needed)

Enjoy dinner at The Stone House or pick up fresh sashimi from the market earlier in the day for a simple picnic. Watch the sunset over the lagoon.

Where to Stay Tonight

Delap or Rita (eastern side of DUD) (Hotel Robert Reimers or Tide Table Hotel)

These areas offer convenient access to the airport, restaurants, and morning activities, and are on the lagoon side for beautiful views.

At the fish market, look for 'wot' (giant clam) if available—it's a local delicacy. Many vendors will clean and prepare fresh tuna or wahoo for you to take away.
Day 1 Budget: $80-150

Delap-Uliga-Djarrit (DUD)
Dive into Marshallese history and contemporary culture, from traditional crafts to the pressing issue of climate change.
Morning
Alele Museum & Public Library
Visit the Alele Museum, the national museum of the Marshall Islands. It houses a small but fascinating collection of traditional navigation charts (stick charts), canoes, tools, and historical photographs. It's essential for understanding the sophisticated maritime culture of the Marshallese people. The adjacent public library is also worth a peek for its community role.

Mon La Loi Cafe
Local & American Budget
Afternoon
Local Crafts & Bikini Atoll Exhibit
Browse for authentic handicrafts at the Waan Aelõñ in Majel (Canoes of the Marshall Islands) cooperative or small local shops, where you can find woven baskets and fans. Then, visit the Bikini Atoll Town Hall. While the atoll itself is far away, this office often has powerful exhibits and information about the nuclear testing legacy and the subsequent relocation of the Bikini people.
2-3 hours $0-50 (for crafts)
Evening
Farewell Feast
Enjoy a final dinner at a local favorite like DAR Restaurant for classic Marshallese dishes, or head back to Tide Table for their popular weekend BBQ if available.

Where to Stay Tonight

Delap or Rita (Same as previous night)

Keeping your base consistent makes the most sense for a short weekend trip, minimizing packing and transit time.

Ask politely at the Alele Museum about the traditional stick charts. The staff are often knowledgeable and can provide deeper insights into how they were used for navigating the vast Pacific.
Day 2 Budget: $70-120

Practical Information

Getting Around

Getting around Majuro primarily requires taxis. They are shared, unmarked vans; simply flag one down. State your destination and be prepared to share the ride. Fares are typically $1-3 per person within the DUD area. For trips to Laura, negotiate a fixed round-trip fare with a driver ($20-40). There are no ride-sharing apps. Walking is feasible in concentrated areas like central DUD.

Book Ahead

Accommodation should be booked well in advance, as options are very limited. If you plan to scuba dive (a major draw), book your dives directly with the Marshall Islands Resort Dive Shop ahead of your trip.

Packing Essentials

Reef-safe sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, swimsuit, rash guard for sun/snorkeling, sturdy sandals, light rain jacket, USD cash (essential, as cards are not widely accepted), power adapter (Type A/B, 120V).

Total Budget

$150-270 for 2 days (excluding flights and accommodation, which vary widely)

Budget Version

Stick to free activities: snorkel from Laura Beach with rented gear, visit the fish market and Alele Museum (donation-based). Eat at local takeouts like Mon La Loi or buy fruit and prepared fish from the market. Use shared taxis exclusively.

Luxury Upgrade

Book a lagoon-view room at the Marshall Islands Resort. Charter a private boat for a half-day snorkeling or fishing trip to more remote reef areas. Arrange a private guided cultural tour, including a visit to a local family or community meeting house (maneaba). Dine at the resort's restaurant for upscale meals.

Family-Friendly

Focus on beach time at Laura, which has gentle, shallow water perfect for kids. The fish market is a fascinating (and free) spectacle for all ages. Simplify the itinerary to one cultural stop (Alele Museum) to avoid overload. Pack plenty of snacks, water, and kids' sun protection.
